The Scott and Jean Archives
Scott, Jean and Nightcrawler arrive at a club in lower Manhattan to check out one of Cerebro’s recently identified mutants. The rest of the X-Men are in Chicago checking out another mutant (Kitty Pryde). Nightcrawler keeps watch outside the club. While Scott and Jean are scanning the area in side, Jean is secretly being watched by the Hellfire Club.
Elsewhere, the Hellfire Club has Xavier, Storm, Wolverine and Colossus captive. The X-Men while bonding with Kitty Pryde in Chicago were attacked and captured by the White Queen, headmistress of the Massachusetts Academy. She too had an eye on recruiting Kitty Pryde but the girl seemed to have preferred Xavier’s offer instead, angering the White Queen. Right now, Kitty having snuck into the warehouse holding the X-Men captive, tries to find a way to rescue them.
Back at the club, Jean’s mind is being invaded yet again by Jason Wyngarde. This time, the club is manipulated into her wedding, where after marriage to Wyngarde, she is unveiled as the Hellfire Club’s new Black Queen. Jean and Wyngarde kiss, and the illusion abruptly ends, bringing her back to the present. A dumbfounded Scott catches them in the act, but Jean is equally stunned and doesn’t know how to explain the situation.
They are momentarily called to action when the identified mutant, Dazzler, takes centre stage at the club. Outside, Kitty makes an emergency call, reaching Nightcrawler. She tries to alert him that Xavier and the rest of the X-Men have been captured. Seconds later, Nightcrawler finds himself in the same trouble that the other X-Men found themselves previously.
