Cyclops pulls the X-Men out of a fight with Magneto and rushes them back to the mansion, fearing Xavier might be in danger.
Meanwhile, Jean has invited her parents, and Xavier to meet her new roommate, Misty and see her new apartment, hoping to take the edge off him because of the visions he had been having.
The X-Men return, only to be ambushed by Eric the Red and Firelord in the hangar bay.
On board an alien ship that had been tracking Xavier, one of the aliens teleports herself into Jean’s apartment. Xavier recognises the alien being from his visions as Lilandra. Suddenly, Firelord blasts his way into the apartment and demands for Lilandra and Xavier. Jean turns into Phoenix and fights off Firelord while Eric the Red tries to sneak up on Lilandra and Xavier.
The rest of the X-Men are hot on the trail of Firelord and Eric the Red, having escaped from the mansion earlier. Eric the Red manages to escape through a Stargate portal. Jean’s strange costumed appearance as well as the alien attack worries her parents but Jean tells them that explanations have to be put aside to help Xavier pursue Eric the Red.
With her new Phoenix powers, Jean reopens the Stargate and all the X-Men chase after Eric the Red, to rescue Lilandra. She closes the gate behind her, leaving Xavier behind with her parents and Misty. Firelord too is left behind and Xavier is left to confront him alone.
