Cable and Nightcrawler sacrificed their lives to save Hope. Their deaths affect the X-Men. Cyclops breaks down at the beginning of his son’s eulogy. Hope steps in to deliver the eulogy in memory of her adopted father.
Wolverine is grieving for his friend Nightcrawler, “the only one that treated [him] like [he] wasn’t some kind of animal”. Storm finds him in Nightcrawler’s room. She picks up an old framed photo of the X-Men from years ago, when Nightcrawler, Storm and Wolverine first joined the X-Men. She remarks that she “feel[s] old”, and tells Wolverine she is taking the photo as a keepsake.
