Cyclops and Moira arrive where Wolverine, Nightcrawler and Storm are battling Proteus. Cyclops stops Moira from murdering her own son. Moira knocks Cyclops unconscious and goes after Proteus alone.
Later, Phoenix, Banshee, Colossus, Havok and Lorna find Cyclops, Storm, Nightcrawler and Wolverine and the X-Men regroup. Cyclops observes that the X-Men who had fought Proteus seemed a little shaken, and he devices an impromptu test to access whether they have been psychologically affected by Proteus.
Proteus is heading for Edinburgh to destroy the “One-I-Hate”. Moira suspects that Proteus is after her husband, his father. Joe MacTaggert refused to divorce Moira because of political reasons. Moira has come to warn Joe that their son is out to kill him. Joe chases Moira out of his house after Moira is unable to pull the trigger on Joe herself. Outside, Proteus sees how his father has torn his mother and is even more determined to destroy him.
Back where the X-Men are, Phoenix, using her telepathy has found Proteus. The X-Men rush towards Edinburgh where Moira discovers her son has taken over Joe’s body. The X-Men attack Proteus, but he grabs Moira as hostage and threatens to possess her if the X-Men try to stop him.
