With the guidance of Ka-Zar, the X-Men make it out of the Savage Land into the open sea and are picked up by a Japanese ship. The captain of the ship will not authorise Cyclops to contact his people until they have completed their mission and return to Japan.
Back at the mansion, unable to cope with the overwhelming grief the mansion brings to her, Jean once again bids it farewell. Lilandra is at the door to send Jean off.
Lilandra brings Xavier some food. Xavier tells Lilandra how his philanthropic cause began. The defeat of an evil mutant who used his powers for his own gains made Xavier realise he had to protect mankind from mutants, and help guide mutants to use their powers for good.
